Great design starts with seeing the full space. You don’t need professional photos — just a clear, complete view of the room from every angle.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Five minutes of prep makes all the difference.
01 — Tidy, but don’t redesign
Remove temporary clutter, bags, laundry, and anything blocking the room. Leave your normal furniture and décor in place — we need to see what you’re actually working with.
02 — Let in natural light
Open blinds and curtains when possible. Turn on room lights if the space is dark.
03 — Use your phone’s rear camera
Use the regular camera on your phone rather than screenshots, social-media cameras, or heavily edited photos.
04 — Keep the camera level
Hold your phone around chest height and keep vertical walls looking straight rather than tilting the camera dramatically up or down.
CAPTURE THE WHOLE ROOM
Think corners, walls, then details.
01 — Photograph every corner
Stand in each corner of the room and photograph diagonally across the space. For most rooms, this means at least four wide photos.
02 — Photograph every wall
Take a straight-on photo of each wall so we can clearly see windows, doors, built-ins, fireplaces, artwork, outlets, and architectural details.
03 — Capture anything staying
Photograph furniture, artwork, rugs, lighting, or other pieces you want us to incorporate into the new design.
04 — Show us the problem areas
Include the awkward corner, empty wall, unusual layout, builder-basic feature, or anything else you’re hoping we can solve.
YOUR CAMERA
Your phone is more than enough.
1× whenever possible. Use 0.5× only when necessary in a tight room. Do not use Portrait Mode or filters. Avoid digital zoom. Keep the camera level. Horizontal photos work best for wide room views. Make sure images are sharp and well lit.
MEASUREMENTS
Photos show us the room. Measurements make the design work.
You’ll also be asked for basic measurements during your detailed project intake. They do not need to be architectural drawings. Overall room length and width · Ceiling height · Door and window widths · Distance between major openings · Dimensions of furniture that will remain.
For renovation, built-in, electrical, plumbing, or construction work, final field measurements should be verified by the appropriate professional.

Keep private things private.
Please remove or obscure anything you don’t want included in your project files, including mail, account numbers, financial or medical documents, identification, passwords, private correspondence, and unnecessary identifying information about children.
